Welcome to the Fishes!
Welcome to The Fishes Class in Year 4. We have an action packed term planned. We have the support of Mrs Avcu our HLTA and Mrs Garner our teaching assistant; both are invaluable members of the Fishes Class team working with children in their intervention and booster groups to aid their knowledge and understanding for reading comprehension, writing and maths.
This Terms Topics:
Science: States of matter
Geography: Effects on the Landscape (Coasts and Rivers)
RE: The Gospel
ICT: Interactive mapping
P.E.: Gym – Floor Skills and Dance
Art: Interpretation of the coast
D.T.: Representing the water cycle
PSHE: New Beginnings
Homework: Your child will be expected to complete their homework as it enhances and extends the work undertaken during lessons. Your child will bring home a termly homework activity sheet from which they need to choose a minimum of six different activities. Your child’s homework activity book will be sent home weekly to enable your child to complete written tasks, evidence logs and add photographs for evidence. This needs to be returned to school weekly to ensure work is marked and tasks that are completed are ticked off on their homework grid. On a Friday pupils will be set spellings to learn by the following week. Please encourage your child to practice these daily at home using the Look-Cover-Write-Check format provided. Pupils will be expected to read with parents/carers/family members on a daily basis. Please remember to sign your child’s reading log so that they can receive house points.
Rewards: Children continue to be awarded house points for working hard in lessons, effort in their work, completing homework, learning their spellings and other work related things. They will also receive house points for impeccable behaviour and recognition against our school values. Each term the house with the highest house points total will receive an award which all the children from that particular house will enjoy.
In the Fishes class we enjoy working very hard and we pride ourselves on valuing everyone’s contribution and everyone’s individual skills and talents.
