Spilsby Music Festival 2026 What an amazing time we had at this year's Spilsby & District Music Festival! Our wonderful school choir represented us brilliantly, performing a fantastic programme of 14 animal-themed songs – complete with matching animal hats! Mrs Mills and the children have been working incredibly hard, and it all paid off as they joined choirs from 10 local schools to sing for an audience of families, friends and community VIPs at Spilsby Methodist Chapel. Their confidence, teamwork and joy were a credit to our school. A big THANK YOU to Mrs Mills, Mrs Beard, Miss Place and Miss Adams for supporting the event – we couldn't have done it without you! "We're Going to the Zoo!" certainly felt like the perfect finale! If you'd like your child to be part of our vibrant, musical and nurturing school community, why not come and see us? Year 2 Outdoor Science Adventure! Our Year 2 explorers took their science learning outside - and what an incredible experience it was! The children investigated microhabitats, discovering tiny worlds buzzing with life right here on our school grounds. From lifting logs to spotting minibeasts around the pond, the children were fully immersed in handson learning that truly brings the science curriculum to life. We are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated pond and wildlife area, giving pupils the chance to observe real ecosystems, ask questions, and nurture a lifelong love for the natural world. These are the moments where curiosity grows and science becomes magical. Would you like your child to experience handson learning in an expansive outdoor learning space? Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue present a Bravery Award at Magdalen! We were absolutely delighted when we were contacted by Mr Duffy from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue to present a bravery award to one of our pupils. Today, he joined us for a very special assembly to share the story of one of our incredible pupils, who showed remarkable courage when she discovered a fire at home and immediately alerted her family, ensuring everyone was safe and unharmed. Her quick thinking and bravery are truly inspiring, and we are exceptionally proud of her. In the assembly, Mr Duffy also delivered an engaging and informative session on fire safety, helping our pupils understand how to stay safe at home and what to do in an emergency. This was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to learn vital safety skills while celebrating an outstanding example of courage within our school community. Moments like these highlight the values we nurture at Magdalen and the confidence and responsibility our pupils demonstrate every day. Collective Worship at Magdalen At Magdalen Church of England/Methodist School, collective worship is a treasured part of our daily life together. Rooted in our strong Christian foundations, worship provides a calm, reflective space where children can explore Bible stories, reflect on our school values, and consider how they can make a positive difference in the world. We are proud to be affiliated with both the Church of England and our local Methodist chapel communities, and our pupils greatly enjoy the alternate visits from Father Aiden and Pastor Sue. Their guidance, storytelling and warmth bring our themes to life and help our children understand faith in a way that is meaningful, inclusive, and uplifting. Every week, two children are chosen to record our worship in our Worship at Wainfleet book, and all pupils are challenged to live out their 'one thing' beyond worship, putting our values into action and contributing positively to our wider society. Spotting the Signs of Spring in Reception! Our Reception children have been busy exploring the great outdoors and spotting the first signs of spring around our school grounds – from tiny buds on the trees and bright daffodils, to birdsong and (slightly!) warmer sunshine. These joyful moments aren't just fun – they are a key part of their Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) learning: Understanding the World – noticing changes in the seasons, talking about weather and how plants grow. Communication and Language – using rich vocabulary like blossom, bud, sprout and petal as they describe what they can see, hear and feel. grow. Personal, Social & Emotional Development – working together, taking turns to share discoveries. Physical Development - running, jumping, balancing and moving safely as they explore the outside. At Magdalen, we believe outdoor learning is a magical part of early education, building confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of nature. Our Reception team create warm, nurturing spaces where every child is encouraged to wonder, explore and ask questions. If you have a child due to start school and would like to see our Reception environment (indoors and out!), we'd love to welcome you for a visit.
