Day Two in Italy – Culture, Connection and Gelato! What a wonderful day we've had here in Francavilla! After an early start, our children spent the morning at our Italian host school, where they embraced the opportunity to learn about Italian culture while proudly sharing their own. It was fantastic to see them communicating and collaborating The afternoon brought a beautifully relaxing picnic on the beach, where the children enjoyed time together by the sea, soaking in their stunning surroundings. We then explored the town, learning about its history, including the impact and destruction it faced during World War II. The children showed great respect, deepening their understanding of the past in such a meaningful way. To top off a brilliant day, we couldn't miss the chance to enjoy a delicious Italian gelato – the perfect ending! We are incredibly proud of how our pupils continue to represent our school: curious, respectful, resilient and full of enthusiasm for every new experience. Year 2 Local History Walk Around Wainfleet Year 2 had a fantastic time exploring our local area this week as part of their history learning, focusing on how Wainfleet High Street has changed over time. During the walk, the children became real historians! They carefully observed buildings along the high street, spotting differences between older and newer structures and discussing how the town has developed over the years. A real highlight was sketching the Buttercross . The children showed wonderful focus and creativity as they captured this important local landmark. They also carried out their own shop survey, tallying different types of shops and comparing what the high street looks like today with how it may have looked in the past. This handson learning really brought their history lessons to life. We were incredibly proud of their curiosity, thoughtful questions and excellent behaviour out in the community. Well done, Year 2 – you truly are brilliant historians! Take a look at some of the photos from our learning in action. Some children find fractions tricky... but not when they have the right tools in their hands. At Magdalen, we bring maths to life using concrete and pictorial resources that help children see, touch and understand maths in a meaningful way. From fraction towers to carefully chosen representations, our approach builds deep, secure knowledge, not just quick answers. We focus on developing confident mathematicians who can explain their thinking, make connections, and apply their understanding across the curriculum. Come and see how we make maths make sense - every day. Spilsby Music Festival 2026 What an amazing time we had at this year's Spilsby & District Music Festival! Our wonderful school choir represented us brilliantly, performing a fantastic programme of 14 animal-themed songs – complete with matching animal hats! Mrs Mills and the children have been working incredibly hard, and it all paid off as they joined choirs from 10 local schools to sing for an audience of families, friends and community VIPs at Spilsby Methodist Chapel. Their confidence, teamwork and joy were a credit to our school. A big THANK YOU to Mrs Mills, Mrs Beard, Miss Place and Miss Adams for supporting the event – we couldn't have done it without you!
