R.S.H.E

At the Magdalen Church of England / Methodist School, we believe that, by teaching RSHE within a Christian context, we will enable our children to become healthy, safe, respectful and responsible members of society.

We aim to support children to appreciate how they are growing and developing socially and personally.

Our school prides itself on delivering effective, age-appropriate Relationships Education that meets the needs of all our pupils within an inclusive and supportive learning environment; using non-biased resources.

Our curriculum is taught by experienced and skilled teaching staff who are committed to preparing your child to live and learn safely in the modern world, negotiating the transition into increasing independence with the development of knowledge, values and skills to make positive, healthy and safe choices.

Our school uses the Jigsaw PSHE scheme which supports the teaching of Relationships and Health Education.

The Jigsaw scheme is matched against the ‘Goodness & Mercy’ resource which supports the delivery of RSHE in Church Schools. We ensure that our Ten Magdalen Values run through RSHE curriculum.

We value the support of parents within our curriculum and so welcome parents’ views. On the school website, you will find our draft policy, an information booklet for parents as well as a breakdown of the ‘Jigsaw’ and ‘Goodness and Mercy’ content of the RSHE curriculum at our school.
